Tsavo National Park is actually two separate national parks these days: Tsavo West and Tsavo East. This separation was done purely for administration purposes after the railway to Mombasa was completed. Together, the park covers 22,000 square kilometers or 8,500 square miles in southeastern Kenya along the border with Tanzania.
Day 1. Arrival and Pickup from Jomo Kenyata Airport.
Day 2 Nairobi City tour.
You can enjoy the collective 50 kilometers of trails and historic natural sites, like Karura Waterfall and the Mau Mau caves where Kenyan rebels against colonial rule hid their men, weapons, and provisions. The city is an entertainment cultural venue that features an outdoor bar, food trucks offering a variety of cuisines, and a market space where local artisans and entrepreneurs sell their crafts and products.
Dinner and overnight at Boma Nairobi/ Mövenpick Residences Nairobi.
Day 3. Game experience in Tsavo West National Park.
This morning you’ll enjoy a game drive in Tsavo West National Park. I’d recommend a game drive that starts early in the morning (6am) as this gives you the best chance to see predators and rhinos.
You can have an early picnic lunch within the park before journeying to Diani Beach.
Diani Beach is around a 5 hour drive from Tsavo West National Park. You should arrive in Diani by late afternoon, in time for a spot of relaxation on the beach.
Day 4. Full day Diani Beach experience.
You have a full day to unwind in Diani. Perhaps you wish to spend the day relaxing on the beach, maybe a cocktail in hand, or maybe you want to explore the area and see the key sights of Diani.
A guided nature walk to Colobus Conservation center can be arranged where you can hope to encounter a troop of Colobus monkeys as well as other primates such as vervet monkeys, baboons and skye monkeys.
The Colobus Centre is open every day apart from Sunday between 8:30am and 4:30pm.
Day 5. Transfer To Kenya/ End of Your Safari.
On your final day in Kenya, you will journey from Diani Beach back to Nairobi.
There are two ways to get back to Nairobi: by road or by plane. Journeying by road takes roughly 10 hours, making it a lengthy travel day. However you can take a flight from Ukunda Airport in Diani to either Wilson Airport or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, both of which are in Nairobi. The flight takes just over an hour and typically costs between $45 and $70 per person.
