A Guide to Murchison Falls National Park.

Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s famous and popular safari destination that borders Lake Albert and traversed by the Victoria Nile. Murchison falls national park is the biggest and oldest conservation area in Uganda, that covers an area of about 3,840 square kilometers. The park consists of landscapes of stark contrasts, from the vast areas covered with Borassus palms to lush riverine forests and the strongest waterfall in the world. The major attraction of the park is Murchison Falls, the place where the mighty Nile River forces its way through a 7-meter rock gorge. For the traveler who wishes to experience an authentic safari in Africa in 2026, nothing can be compared with a visit to Murchison Falls, which will allow the traveler an up-close and personal connection with the force of nature and its astonishing diversity.

Attractions of Murchison Falls National Park.

Murchison Falls National Park is a wonder of biology, containing several different areas, each with its own special attraction.

Mighty Murchison Falls: This waterfall, which gives the park its name, is a true sensation. It is a truly magical moment when you see and hear the mighty Nile falling down at such an incredible speed into the rift valley wall.

Victoria Nile: This river acts as the lifeline of the park, dividing the park into two sectors: northern and southern. The river banks host one of the greatest densities of hippos and Nile crocodiles in the entire African continent.

Buligi Game Tracks: These savannah grasslands lie between the Victoria and Albert Nile rivers. These are the perfect places for viewing game because here you have the best opportunity to encounter predators and ungulates.

Budongo Forest: This forest lies along the southern border and is one of the most crucial birdwatching sites in East Africa, hosting an abundant population of habituated chimpanzees.

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary: Although the sanctuary lies outside the park on the way to Kampala, it serves as the only location close where you can spot the southern white rhinoceros by walking, thereby making your visit to the Big Five complete.

Albert Delta: This tranquil area, where the river joins Lake Albert, is a paradise for water birds including the ancient-looking Shoebill Stork that can often be found around the swamps.

Best Time to Visit Murchison Falls National Park.

Although Murchison Falls will always be warm no matter what time of year you visit, the Dry Seasons of December to February and June to September will be when you will see the greatest number of animals.
