One Day Trips

These are ideal if you have very limited time or a layover near Entebbe or may be a business meeting in Kampala.

  • Jinja and the Source of the Nile.

Highlights: Visit the point where the world’s longest river begins from Lake Victoria, explore Mabira Forest, and see the Ssezibwa Falls.

Activities: Boat cruise to the source of the Nile, white-water rafting, bungee jumping, horse riding, Water tuning, Zipling,  Kayaking and quad biking.

Travel Time: Approximately 2 hours drive from Kampala to Jinja without traffic.

Highlights: The only place in Uganda to see large population of white rhinos in the wild and on foot.

Travel Time: About 3-hour drive north of Kampala to Nakasongola

  • Mabamba Swamp Shoebill excursion

Highlights: A top birding spot, famous for sightings of the rare and “prehistoric-looking” Shoebill Stork.

Activities: Canoe ride through the wetlands with a local guide. Travel Time is approximately 40 minutes to an hour’s boat ride from Entebbe.

  • Kampala City Tour / Entebbe Experience

Highlights: Explore cultural and historical sites within the city such as the Kasubi Tombs (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Gadhafi Mosque, Uganda Museum, and local markets.

Activities: Walking tours, motorbike or boda-boda tours, visiting the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (zoo) in Entebbe, Boat cruise on  Lake Victoria, Visit the botanical gardens, Ngamba chimpanzee sanctuary for ophanaged chimps. Travel Time: All within or very close to the capital city/Entebbe area.

2Day Trip options

For a quick, classic safari experience, these destinations offer a chance to see more wildlife without extensive travel time within the country:

  • Lake Mburo National Park

Highlights: The closest national park to Kampala, known for zebras, impalas, and a large variety of birds. It is one of the only parks where you can do a walking safari and horseback safari.

Activities: Game drives, boat safaris on the lake Mburo, guided nature walks, and a stop at the Equator. Travel Time: About a 4hour drive from Kampala.

  • Murchison Falls National Park

Highlights: Uganda’s largest and most popular national park, featuring the world’s most powerful waterfall.

Activities: Hike to the top of the falls, boat cruise on the Nile River to see hippos, crocodiles, and wildlife on the river banks, and game drives to spot lions, giraffes, Buffalos, Elephants, and many more. Travel Time: About a 5-to-6-hour drive from Kampala/Entebbe.
